MAJERO BOUMAN
Teacher and Researcher with Open Floor International Moving Meditation / Therapeutic Dance.
Majero is a poet, a cultural theorist, a mother, an artist, and a life-long dancer. She merges the intellectual with the inspirational in her work as an Open Floor Teacher. Her work is in service to cultural transformation, community responsibility, and self-awareness. She believes that movement practice can connect us deeply to ourselves and others - in service to communion - making the intangible visible. Her students appreciate the grit, substance, and inspiration she brings to her work. She is committed to making dance/movement accessible to people from all walks of life: the ordinary and the unconventional, those who dance and those who never knew they could.

Open Floor is a bare foot dance meditation practice for building muscular and emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and soulfulness. We cultivate the forces that fuel our creativity, our connection, and our ability to change. In a class, expect time to warm up your body and arrive, re-collecting some of the fullness of you from the many spaces and concerns that occupy the conscious and unconscious. We will focus on the day's theme through an exercise or two, and then you are set free to move and explore in your own dance process. What happens on the dance floor is a reflection of what happens in life. To paraphrase Kathy Altman, a founding member of Open Floor International and original teacher of 5Rhythms, we don’t learn to dance, we dance to learn.No dance experience or talent required.
