Ages 11 To 17 by Audition only
Another successful run of our spring performance completed! Thank you to everyone who came out to see our performance of (W)Holes. This year we featured new and remounted work by Pia Bouman and Bethany Litner, as well as choreography from guest artist Julia Male and student choreographer Amelia Brown. The YMI Dancers did a fantastic job at conveying the intricacies being asked from their choreographers. They were expressive and virtuosic in their movement. Well done dancers!
We also performed at the "Spring Into Parkdale" Festival and in Guelph as part of the Guelph Dance Festival's "Youth Moves" series.

Young Movement Incorporated Dancing is a youth dance company. Established in 1991, our mandate is to give young dancers the opportunity to bring performance to the general community. The company gives dance performances at public schools, libraries, and nursing homes. Yearly we travel to Guelph to be part of the Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival, in the series Youth Moves. We have been part of the Parkdale Festival, and showed some signature pieces on Canada Day in High Park, and in the Junction. YMI DAncing connects local Toronto artists with the dancers of the company. The company has enjoyed the teaching of professional performers such as Julia Aplin, Susie Burpee, Meagan O'Shea, Malgorzata Nowacka, Julia Sasso and Darryl Tracy. YMI provides an exciting opportunity for students to learn different dance techniques and vocabulary and thus grow as young dance artists.
Each April, the company performs in a full-length show (4 performances) at Pia Bouman Studio Theatre. The performance showcases works by student dancers, Toronto artists, and artistic director Pia Bouman.
YMI Company classes:
Held on Thursdays during the dance year.
Thursdays and Sundays after Winter Break.
