Number 7 in a special series of talks and readings by renowned Canadians; artists, authors, musicians, critics, scholars, and thinkers. With these monthly salons we hope to ignite a discourse on how arts and culture enhance, enrich and deepen our humanity. Thus aiming to raise awareness of the School’s place in Toronto as a dance-arts education center and Parkdale hub for arts and culture.
Pia Bouman School is proud to announce and invites you to join us for our 7th Salon
An Evening with
Evelyn Hart and Michael Crabb
Evelyn Hart, former principal dancer with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and Michael Crabb, dance critic for the Toronto Star in discussion about ballet in Canada. Every young dancer should have the chance to listen to Evelyn’s warm, funny, captivating and inspiring stories about her own experiences as a young artist whose determination to dance enabled her to overcome the many obstacles in her path. In his 1991 book Evelyn Hart, An Intimate portrait, author Max Wyman wrote: “Despite the odds against her, the fears within her, and the external obstacles she has faced, she has accomplished what she set out to do — to dance superbly, to bring a rare emotional expressiveness to Canadian ballet, and to dance on the world's major stages.” Michael Crabb’s insight and knowledge will again guide the conversation. We expect an evening of stories and laughter that will be designed especially for our young dancers, but that people of all ages in our school’s community will enjoy and remember.
